ACHA Gold Split Weeks Games against Michigan and Lawrence Tech
The ACHA Division III Gold team had a pair of games this week losing Wednesday night but rebounding to win on Friday. The Bulldogs started the week off on a sour note as they traveled to Yost Ice Arena to face the Michigan Wolverines in a game which they lost 8-1.
Michigan used a powerful first period in which they netted four goals to lead setting the pace for the rest of the night. Michigan was able to keep the Bulldogs off the scoreboard until Anthony Rossi scored the only goal of the game for Adrian slimming the lead a little but not enough to challenge the Wolverines who led 6-1 at the end of two periods. Michigan scored two more in the third to finish out the game at 8-1.
Friday night proved to be a better night as the team traveled to
face Lawrence Tech. The Bulldogs walked away with a 6-2 victory in
the game. Freshman Mitch Baker got the only goal of first period
for the Bulldogs as the first period ended with the score 1-0 in
favor of
Adrian.
The second period proved to be the most important of the night as the Bulldogs outscored Lawrence Tech 4-0 in the period. The Bulldogs got goals from Doug Raymond, Fred Krause, Steven Smith and Rossi in the period.
When the third period started Adrian appeared to be in control
as they lead 5-0. Kyle Powell pushed that lead to 6-0 when he
scored around nine minutes into the third. Lawrence Tech proved
that they were not ready to give up though as they got two goals in
the last six
minutes of the game to cut down the Adrian lead to 6-2.
This would be the only offense the Blue Devils would receive as Adrian and goaltender Garrett Knappe would shut the door and close out the game with a 6-2 victory. The Bulldogs return to action on December 2 as they face off against Bowling Green State University.
