ACHA Black Wins 5-4 in Opener

The ACHA Division 3 Black Team captured a 5-4 win in their season opener on Friday night at Holy Cross College. The Bulldogs and Crusaders were tied at the end of the first period. Cole Rochowiak gave Adrian a 1-0 lead just 12 seconds into the game with an assist from Joe Van Geison at even strength. Holy Cross got the next two goals to take a 2-1 lead but the Bulldogs tied it up at 7:54 as Blake Fielder scored at even strength with an assist from Jack Garretson.

AC took a 3-2 lead just 16 seconds into the second period as Zack Paulakovich scored on the power play unassisted. Holy Cross tied it at 3-3 before Van Geison broke the tie at 4:13 with an assist from Rochowiak to end the second period with a 4-3 lead.

Holy Cross tied the game at 4-4 at 7:15 of the third period at even strength and with 3:57 remaining it was Kalon Foss scored the game-winner unassisted to send Adrian to a 1-0 record.

Riley Brooks made 21 saves between the pipes to earn the win.
