ADRIAN, Mich.--The Adrian College ACHA men's gold squad scored early and often on Saturday night, as the Bulldogs routed the visiting Northwood University Timberwolves 16-1 at Arrington Ice Arena.
Adrian’s Chase Whallon scored just 1:08 into the first period to set off a string of 13 unanswered goals before Northwood’s Matt Hensley broke the run with the Timberwolves only goal at the 12:22 mark of the third period.
In all, the Bulldogs scored six goals in the first, five goals in the second and finished with five goals in the third period.
Whallon was one of two Bulldogs to score hat tricks on the evening, along with teammate Paul Gorski. Adrian’s Nick Bordeaux was the Bulldogs only other multiple goal scorer with two tallies, one in the first period and another in the second.
The parade of single goal scorers included Michael Butler, Kyle Schulz, Mario Tomei, Joe Laskero, Jack Clary, Brandon McLean, Matt Froats and Joseph Gibbs.
Leading assist getters were Jordan Ruelle with four helpers and Laskero with three.
The beneficiary of the productive Adrian offensive attack was goaltender Will Emch, who picked up his fourth win against no defeats while making 11 saves in the Bulldog net.
The Bulldogs are now 7-1 on the season while Northwood drops to 1-5.
