Panza Named All-North Region

ADRIAN, Mich. - Senior defensive tackle Gino Panza (Monroe, Mich./Jefferson H.S.) was named to the 2009 All-North Region Second Team as announced by D3football.com. Panza made 52 tackles this season including 10.5 for a loss and three sacks.
Panza also received the highest defensive honor in the MIAA by being named the Defensive Player of the Year. Panza became just the fourth Bulldog since 1983 to be named conference defensive player of the year joining John Lafolla (1983), Tim Doty (1988) and Mike Lewis (2005). Panza was a starter since his freshman season and missed just one game in his college career (39 games).
Panza ranks among the best defensive linemen in Adrian College history. He finished his career with 142 tackles including a career-high 52 stops during his senior year. Panza had 23.5 tackles for a loss of 72 yards and also had 4.5 sacks for a loss of 22 yards. He blocked three kicks during his career and also had two fumble recoveries. This season, he had 10.5 tackles for a loss of 39 yards and three sacks for a loss of 19 yards. Panza was also named First Team All-MIAA in 2008 and Second Team All-MIAA in 2007.
