HOW IT HAPPENED
= Alma struck first on the game's first possession with a Jacob Plisko 23-yard field goal with seven minutes and 58 seconds left in the opening quarter, but it could have been a touchdown-scoring opportunity if not for the Adrian defense. The Scots' 10-play scoring drive stalled at the 5-yard line as the Bulldogs held Alma to just two yards once it allowed a first down inside the 10.

= Adrian equalized on its first possession with a 30-yard field goal off the foot of freshman Austin Atherton with 4:11 showing on the clock.

= The Scots responded on the following possession as Ryan Stevens found Hinkle for a nine-yard TD pass with 6 seconds left in the first quarter, capping a 10-play drive in 68 yards in 5:32.

= Adrian, however, countered on its next possession and got the first TD of the second quarter. Wurzer completed a 55-yard pass to McGaw at the 12:57 mark. The drive went four plays for 75 yards in 2:03 to the end zone.

= The Adrian defense stopped Alma on the next possession and turned it over to the offense as the Bulldogs took advantage to get their first lead of the night. Madison made a terrific over-the-shoulder catch in the end zone from Wurzer 11 yards out, completing a 68-yard drive on 10 plays in 5:32. Adrian went up 16-10 with 2:51 to go in the first half and never gave up the lead after that.

= In the second half, Stewart had TD runs of 4 and 1 yards to put Adrian up 22-10 and 28-16.

= Alma closed within 28-23 late in the fourth quarter after a Bulldog miscue. With Adrian on its 35, freshman punter Austin Behnke fumbled the snap at the 23-yard line and the Scots took control on downs. Four plays later, Stevens found Schaefer for a 23-yard TD pass at 5:56.

= Alma got another possession but the Bulldogs defense stuffed the Scots on fourth-and-1 at the Adrian 35. Adrian was able to run out the clock after that to preserve the victory.

= The Bulldogs limited the Scots to just 291 total yards while compiling 441 yards of total offense of their own.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
= McPhee leads Adrian with 52 tackles (19 solo, 33 assists), setting a career high. Last year, he posted 51 in nine contests.

= Stewart upped his school career records to 4,615 yards rushing and 5,281 all-purpose yards.

= Second on the Bulldogs' all-time lists for receiving yards (2,655) and catches (165), McGaw needs three TD receptions to pass Justin Hemm, who had 26 from 2009-12.

= Alma still leads the all-time series 48-31-1, but Adrian has won 11 of the past 12 meetings.

= Adrian has committed only four turnovers all season and none in back-to-back outings.

= Madison has 17 catches for 257 yards and two TDs in his last three contests.
