Ross and Mauk Named to Capital One All-District Academic List

Seniors Nick Ross (Manchester, Mich./Manchester HS) and Steve Mauk (China, Mich./St. Clair HS) have been selected to the CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-District 6 NCAA Division III team. The academic all-american program is sponsored by college sports information directors and Capital One to promote the student-athlete in its finest form.

Ross was one of five offensive linemen selected to the team and has earned a 3.54 GPA in biology. Ross was a standout on the offensive line for the Bulldogs over the past four years and ended his career with 30 straight starts under his belt. Ross played in 35 career games and saw action at guard and tackle. He was named Second Team All-MIAA in 2010.

Mauk was one of four defensive linemen selected to the team and has earned a 3.95 GPA in exercise science. Mauk had his best statistical season this year finishing with 33 tackles (17 solo). He also recorded 12.5 tackles for a loss of 46 yards which included seven sacks for a loss of 33 yards. Mauk also forced a fumble and had six quarterback hurries for the Bulldogs. Mauk had his best game of the season at Hope on Nov. 5 with seven tackles including four tackles for loss.
