Bulldogs Picked Third in MIAA Preseason Poll

The 2010 MIAA Preseason Poll was released on Tuesday (Aug.10) and the Bulldogs are picked to finish third in the seven-member conference as voted on by the head coaches of each institution without voting for your own team.

Adrian College received one first-place vote and had 14 poll points which trailed Albion (13) and Trine (6). The Bulldogs have finished second in the MIAA over the past two seasons.

"We are very excited to get camp going," said first-year head coach Jim Deere who is in his 18th season overall at Adrian College. "Our players will represent Adrian College in a positive manner on and off the field and we will be ready to get going on September 4 at Wisconsin-Whitewater. Our conference is always tough and we open with Trine during homecoming so that adds a little more to the start of conference play."

The Bulldogs are coming off a 6-4 campaign in 2009 and return several key players on both sides of the ball. Senior quarterback Mike McGee (Columbus, Ohio/Brookhaven) has a chance to sit atop the all-time record book at Adrian College with a solid year through the air this season. Senior linebackers Jarred Kwiatkowski (Warren, Mich./Cousino) and Danny Taylor (Commerce Twp., Mich./White Lake Lakeland) return to lead a defense that has been nationally-ranked in the past few seasons under Deere. Kwiatkowski was named First Team All-MIAA while Taylor was a Second Team All-MIAA selection a year ago. Senior defensive end Austin Fritz (Ayersville, Ohio) is also back after being named Second Team All-MIAA in 2009.
