BEAVERCREEK, Ohio--Led by all-tournament honoree Justin Friedel, the Adrian College men's bowling team notched its best finish ever at the Raider Classic (Nov. 12-13) hosted by Wright State University at the Beaver Vu Bowl.
Adrian knocked down a total of 8,924 pins to place eighth at the 22-team event.
“This was an excellent weekend for our men's team, who had a terrific Classic performance," said Adrian head coach John Essenmacher III. "They struggled a little the first day, but the second day they bowled baker games as well as I’ve seen a team in a long time. This is just another building block for the year and they are coming together really great as a team right now.”
The Bulldogs were 10th after the first day, but the team was able to move up two spots the next day averaging 207 for 20 baker games to finish No. 8, a program record at the Raider Classic.
Friedel, a freshman, finished fourth overall and made All-Raider Classic after averaging 221.6 for five games totaling 1108 pins. Junior Dylin Hunter also bowled well finishing in 36th place with a 196.8 average and 984 total.
Adrian hits the lanes again on Saturday the 19th when the Bulldogs participate at the Bowling Green State University Falcon Classic at Interstate Lanes in Rossford, Ohio, starting at 9 a.m.
