GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The second half of the season for the men's basketball team did not live up to lofty expectations after an 11-0 start as the Bulldogs suffered a 71-44 loss at Calvin College in the MIAA Tournament semifinals on Thursday night. The team can look back however and be proud of winning more games than any other Bulldog team since 1954-55. The team's 18-8 record is the best in 58 years.
The first two games against Calvin were classic showdowns as Adrian dropped those by a combined nine points. This one did not have similar dramatics as the Knights came out firing and did not stop. Calvin shot 51.7 percent in the first half and made 24-of-51 from the floor overall. The Knights were also 6-of-12 from the arc and 17-of-22 at the free throw line.
Adrian could not find their shot all night going 15-of-57 from the floor. The Bulldogs shot 25.9 percent in the first half and 26.7 percent in the second half. Nearly half of Adrian's shots came from behind the arc going 6-of-28. Two seniors played in their final game as Sean Gallant and Cody Barnes ended four years on the court. Gallant went 4-of-12 from the floor scoring a team-high nine points. Barnes added five points and four rebounds in 29 minutes.
