Adrian Men Picked Fourth in MIAA Preseason Coaches Poll
ROYAL OAK, Mich. - The Adrian College men's basketball team is looking to continue their climb up the MIAA ladder after finishing third in last year's standings. The 2010-11 season begins with seven varsity lettermen back and the MIAA Preseason Coaches Poll has the Bulldogs fourth with a total of 28 points. Hope received six first-place votes and nine poll points. Calvin received two first-place votes and 14 poll points. Olivet had 17 poll points followed by the Bulldogs. Albion (30), Kalamazoo (38), Trine (38) and Alma (49) round out the poll.
"We were pleased with the progress that was made last year with a first-year head coach and alot of newcomers," said head coach Mark White. "We have good team chemistry and improved our defense as the year went on. We want a program that has determination and plays strong on the defensive end."
The Bulldogs return senior Jovon Mosley (Detroit, Mich./Warren Lincoln) who was the team's leading scorer and ranked seventh in the MIAA (13.3 ppg) in 2009-10. Sophomore sharp-shooter Wesley Reed (Piqua, Ohio/Piqua) is also back after connecting on 33.6 percent of his three-pointers a year ago. Sophomore floor general Delano Collins (Detroit, Mich./Renaissance) did a good job at point guard ranking second in the MIAA in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.74) and fourth in assists per game (3.48 apg).
Adrian begins their season on Saturday (Nov. 6) as they travel to Bowling Green State University for an exhibition contest against the Falcons with tip-off set for 2:00 PM.
