BLOOMINGTON, Minn.--On the heels of capturing the last two Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Pitcher of the Week awards, Adrian College senior right-hander Tommy Parsons (New Albany, Ohio) was named to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week late Monday. This signals the third time in his Adrian career that Parsons has earned this national award, including March 7, 2017, and March 30, 2016.
Parsons tossed a three-hitter in going the distance in a 1-0 win over archrival Kalamazoo on Friday to begin a four-game conference series. Forty-four of his 68 pitches went for strikes, finishing with seven punch-outs to move into third place on Adrian's all-time strikeouts chart with 215. He allowed just one baserunner past first base and the pinch-runner was picked off at second--his second of the game. Parsons also tied the Bulldogs career record with six shutouts, which ranks second among active Division III pitchers.
On the season, the business management major owns MIAA bests with a 1.80 earned-run average and 46 strikeouts. His 33 career victories (against just four losses) also lead active hurlers in NCAA Baseball, ALL Divisions.
