FREELAND, Mich.--The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has named juniors Hunter Hayes and Tommy Parsons from MIAA tournament champion Adrian College as the conference's final winners of the player and pitcher of the week, respectively.
Hayes, of Adrian High School and a transfer from Jackson College, had a MIAA-leading slashline of .667/.667/.750 in three games since returning to the lineup due to an injury. He had five runs batted in and eight hits. The exercise science major had a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage in 25 total chances at first base. For Hayes, this is his first career MIAA weekly honor.
Parsons (New Albany, Ohio) was 2-0 with a miniscule 0.75 earned-run average and 14 strikeouts in 12 innings of work. Opponents batted only .190 against and he issued just two walks. This is the fourth MIAA weekly honor this season for the business management major.
