Head Coach Seth Borton Makes Debut in Famous Sports Illustrated Faces in the Crowd

ADRIAN, Mich.--Head coach Seth Borton of the nationally-regarded Adrian College bass fishing team is featured in the June 18 issue of Sports Illustrated Faces in the Crowd section that has hit newsstands and delivered to subscribers' mailboxes worldwide. The issue's cover has NHL Stanley Cup Champion and Washington Capitals captain Alexander Ovechkin on it.

Borton makes the second Adrian entry in the iconic magazine's Faces in the Crowd piece in as many years--the first time that's occurred since 2011 and 2012. Borton, who is the only coach the Bulldogs have ever known, has led Adrian to two major victories this spring, including the 266-boat field B.A.S.S Carhartt College Southern Tour with a school-record catch of 58 pounds, 11 ounces. Adrian has been ranked No. 1 at the end of its September schedule in two of the past four years, according to the 400-school Association of Collegiate Anglers poll.

Adrian--which finished seventh in the latest Cabela's School of the Year race, presented by Abu Garcia, that ended in May--hits the water again on Saturday, July 21, for the Fishing League Worldwide Northern Conference Event #2 on Cayuga Lake in Seneca Falls, N.Y. In the Bulldogs' last outing on May 30-June 1, they had the only two boats that finished in the top-10 of the FLW Collegiate National Championships held in Shreveport, La. (Red River).

Women's hockey forward Kristin Lewicki (Jan 12, 2017), women's soccer standout Sam Barker (Jan. 9, 2012), men's hockey goaltender Brad Fogal (April 4, 2011) and his former teammate--and current Bulldogs coach--Adam Krug (March 4, 2008) are Bulldogs who have previously appeared in SI Faces in the Crowd.

"Faces in the Crowd" spotlights six amateur athletes/coaches and has been a fixture of the weekly magazine since first appearing in 1956. Sports Illustrated, which was established in 1954, has more than three million subscribers and is read by more than 23 million people each week.
