Cross Country Teams Finish 24th and 26th at Wis.-Oshkosh

OSHKOSH, Wis. – The Adrian College cross country teams went up against over 35 teams and 1,000 runners at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Brooks Invitational at Lake Breeze Golf Course. The Adrian men finished 26th, while the women placed 24th.

The men's team took on 36 other teams including nine teams ranked in the top 25 by the USTFCCCA, including defending national champions North Central College, who won the meet with 49 points. Adrian's team finished the meet with 768 points. Leading the way was senior Nolan Gillespie who finished with a time of 26:46 to place 196th. Sophomore Cyle Rogotzke and freshman Andrew Mangiapane finished just behind Rogotzke with a time of 26:52 and 26:53 respectively to finish in 212th and 215th. Peter Konieczki, a junior, placed 254th with a time of 27:12. Rounding out the team scoring for the Bulldogs was senior Brian Shoulders who completed the course in a time of 27:39 to finish in 304th position.

On the women's side, the competition was equally as tough, competing against 35 other teams including 10 squads ranked in the top 25. Minnesota-Duluth won the meet with 89 points, compared to the Bulldogs who finished with 700. Leading the charge was sophomore Alicia Fowler, who just fell outside the top 100 as she took home 102nd place with a time of 23:39. Fellow sophomore Heather Strong finished the course with a time of 23:52 to place 130th. Freshman Grace Ebersole placed 216th with a time of 24:38. Junior's Victoria Alexander and Lindsey Manning rounded out the women's team scoring with times of 24:51 and 25:06 to finish in 230th and 255th position respectively.

Cross Country teams will take on the rest of the MIAA at the Cross Country Championships in Grand Rapids, Michigan on Saturday, October 30 beginning at 11:00 a.m.
