Adrian XC Finish 4th at First MIAA Jamboree

OLIVET, Mich. – The Adrian College men's and women's cross country teams compete in the first MIAA Jamboree of the season on Saturday at Olivet College. Both teams placed fourth overall.

Calvin won the men's division with a near perfect score of 17. The Bulldogs scored a team total of 114 points. Leading the Bulldogs was freshman Andrew Mangiapane who placed 3rd among all freshman entered and 15th overall with a time of 26:59, only 54 seconds behind the winner. Senior Nolan Gillespie finished 20th in a time of 27:29. Sophomores Cyle Rogotzke and Kyle Mack finished back-to-back in 25th and 26th place with times of 27:47 and 27:59 respectively. Rounding out the men's team scoring was Peter Konieczki who finished with a time of 28:04 in 28th place. Also participating for the Bulldogs were senior Brian Shoulders who finished in 31st place in a time of 28:09 and Greg Govier who placed 42nd with a time of 29:10.

On the women's side, Calvin also took home the team title, scoring 21 points, while the Bulldogs finished with 131. The women's squad was also led by a sophomore Heather Strong, who finished with a time of 24:05 to place 19th. Fellow sophomore Alicia Fowler placed 22nd with a time of 24:43. Rounding out the team scoring was Grace Ebersole, a freshman, junior Victoria Alexander and freshman Sylvia Venema finished back-to-back-to-back in 29th, 30th and 31st place with times of 25:12, 25:22 and 25:44. Lindsey Manning, a junior placed 32nd with a time of 25:45 and freshman Stacie Swanton placed 37th with a time of 25:58 but neither factored into the team scoring total.

The cross country team will take the week off as they host the annual Bulldog Run during homecoming weekend on Saturday, October 2. Registration is from 7-8:45 am with the 5k race beginning at 9:00 am. For more information please visit the information website.
