HILLSDALE, Mich. – The Bulldogs headed to Hillsdale College to compete in the Hillsdale Relays as the track & field team looked to keep improving. The men and women battled hard as they continued to better their results as the season progesses.
The sprints for the men were highlighted by Matthew Williams and Archie Nolan who recorded times of 11.23 and 11.43 respectively in the 100m dash. Williams and Nolan also recorded respective times of 23.18 and 23.56 in the 200m dash while Blake Hairston finished with a time of 23.26. Hairston also competed well in the 400m dash as he recorded a time of 51.98 and Daizon Earl finished with a time of 51.64.
The distance runners for the men were led by Thomas Windle as he finished with a time of 1:57.45 in the 800m run. Dominick Reed recorded a time of 15:19.12 in the 5000m run and a time of 9:43.62 in the 3000m steeplechase while Nathan Waite finished with a time of 9:50.92.
The hurdles for the men saw Brandon Walters finish with a time of 58.63 in the 400m hurdles.
The jumps for the men were led by Scott Campbell as notched a 1.94m effort in the high jump.
The throws for the men were led by Scott Campbell as he notched a throw of 50.56m in javelin and finished second place. Gianpiero Comuzzi finished closely as he placed fifth with a throw of 45.11m and Izaiah Hernandez recorded a throw of 39.89m.
The sprints for the women were led by Jazmine Brown as she finished fifth in the 200m dash (25.63) and recorded a time of 12.66 in the 100m dash. Rachel Dolphin finished with a time of 26.21 in the 200m dash and recorded a time of 12.78 in the 100m dash. Natalie Modes notched a time of 27.74 in the 200m dash and Elizabeth Ladd finished with a time of 13.35 in the 100m dash.
The hurdles saw Takiya Smith record a time of 16.08 and Alissa Flury finish with a time of 17.44 in the 100m hurdles.
The relays for the women saw Brown, Modes, and Dolphin team with Amanda Glass to record a time of 49.86 in the 4x100m relay.
Coach James Larson commented on his team's efforts over the weekend, "The Hillsdale "Gina" Relays was a great three-day meet for the Bulldogs with 46 personal bests set for the season. This was a great tune-up meet to prepare us for the MIAA Championship this upcoming Thursday and Friday, May 1-2. This team is ready to perform and we are excited to get the championship underway."
