HILLSDALE, Mich. – The Adrian College track and field team competed in the Hillsdale Wide-Track Classic this weekend as both the men and the women posted notable results. Jazmine Brown broke the 200m dash school record held by Kelsea Sellers (26.56) as she posted a time of 26.50. Takiyah Smith broke her own school record in the 60m hurdles (9.59) as she recorded a time of 9.51.
The heptathlon saw Scott Campbell notch a 14th place finish with 3509 points and a fourth place finish in the high jump (1.94m).
The throwers for the men were highlighted by Jacob Mehr as he recorded a fourth place in the shot put with a throw of 15.52m.
The distance runners for the men saw Conner Stevons post a fourth place in the mile run with a time of 4:29.57 and an eighth place in the 5000m with a time of 16:13.49. Dominick Reed recorded a 21st in the 3000m run with a time of 9:20.85.
The sprinters for the men were highlighted by Andrew Andonian as he placed 20th 400m with a time of 54.20. The 4x400m team placed ninth as Nicholas Howard, Dane-Michael Foster, Matthew Hotchkiss, and Andrew Andonian combined for a time of 3:42.82. Matthew Hotchkiss finished 26th in the 200m event as he finished with a time of 23.84.
The distance runners for the women saw Kimberly DeVore record a first place in the mile run as she posted a time of 5:43.06. DeVore also placed 14th in the 800m event with a time of 2:34.49. Grace Ebersole finished 25th in the 3000m event with a time of 11:44.96.
The sprinters saw Jazmine Brown finish 11th in both the 200m and 400m events as she recorded times of 26.50 and 1:01.08 respectively. The 4x400m team for the women notched an 11th place finish as the team of Jazmine Brown, Takiyah Smith, Amanda Glass and Rachel Dolphin combined for a time of 4:17.74.
The track and field team will compete again February 15 at the Grand Valley State Big Meet.
