Bulldog Men, Women Win at Yellow Jacket Open

DEFIANCE, Ohio - In the first outdoor scoring meet of the year, the Bulldogs racked up the points as the Men and Women's track and field teams both finished in first place at the Yellow Jacket Open, hosted by Defiance College. In total, there were 15 individual and relay teams that had first place finishes for the meet.

Four Bulldogs had multiple first place finishes during the meet, as Aaron Wielfaert, Chad Allemon, Jacob Mehr, and Kelsea Sellers won two events each for Adrian.

Wielfaert scored his first place finishes in the high jump and the 400m hurdles. The junior cleared 6-02.75 to begin the afternoon, then ran the hurdles in 58.70 seconds.

The junior Allemon sprinted his way to victory in the 200m dash and 400m dash, running the 200m in 22.80, and the 400m in 51.08.

Mehr found his way to first in the shot put and discus. His first place throw in the shot put went 49-11.75, while he tossed the discus 154-05.

The senior Sellers had another terrific performance in the 100m dash, smashing her already school record by almost two tenths of a second, finishing in 12.05. Sellers went on to a second place finish in the 200m dash at 25.87 seconds, and found a victory in the 400m dash at 1:01.97.

Other champions for the Bulldog men included Colby Aures in the pole vault, and the 4x400m relay team of Greg Govier, Ricardo Dabney, Brandon Walters, and Andrew Andonian.

Also winners for the Adrian women included Megan Meier in the shot put, Natalie Miller in the long jump, and Seneca Scott in the 100m hurdles.

The Bulldogs will compete again next weekend, April 7th, at the Adrian All-American Invite. The first events are scheduled to start at 10:00 am.
