GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - It was a third place finish for the Bulldog Women's Track and Field team while the Men ran, jumped, and threw their way to fifth place at the Michigan-Indiana Championships hosted at Calvin. The Bulldog Women had three championship performances on the day while the Men also had a large number of top performances.
Alicia Fowler had a strong meet for the Bulldogs, as she ran to first in the 800m run at 2:20.95, and then finished third in the Mile run at 5:11.48. Senior Kelsea Sellers was a champion in the 4x200m relay as Jazmyne Curry, Natalie Miller, and Alyda Gerding were also part of the winning relay team. Sellers also finished second in the 200m run at 26.63.
Freshman Tracey Wallace was a champion in the long jump, leaping 16-11.50, with sophomore Kristen Langerman right behind her in second at 16-8.50. Freshman Megan McPherson gave the Bulldogs a 4th place finish in the 3000m run, and a 5th place finish in the mile.
The Bulldog Men had two second place relay finishes as Chris Kimball, Chris Seward, Andrew Andonian, and Ricardo Dabney clocked in at 1:34.42 in the 4x200 relay, while Chad Allemon, Dabney, Greg Govier, and Aaron Wielfaert crossed the line second in the 4x400 at 3:27.51.
Senior Derek Stoll gave the Men two second place finishes, as he threw the shot put 52-02.00, and the weight throw 52-10.75. The Bulldogs received a third and a fourth place in the pole vault as Colby Aures went 13-07.25 for third place, and Andonian finished fourth at 13-01.50.
