Marcus Rose produced a hat trick and Brad Kobryn scored a pair of goals on Thursday night, as the No. 1 ranked Adrian College ACHA Division l men's team defeated Oakland University 7-1 at Arrington Ice Arena.

The Golden Grizzlies scored the game's first goal to take an early 1-0 lead, but they would not score again, as Adrian rattled off seven unanswered goals on their way to their 16th win of the season. After Oakland's Cole Helgemo scored for the Golden Grizzlies midway through the first period, Rose scored the equalizer for the Bulldogs with 4:39 remaining in the period and Joe Costello tallied what would prove to be the game-winner just 58 seconds later to give the Bulldogs a 2-1 edge at the first intermission.

The Bulldogs increased their advantage in the second period to 3-1, as Kobryn connected on his 20th goal of the season with an assist from Costello.

Adrian then put the game away with a strong four-goal third period, which saw Kobryn score his 21st goal of the campaign to get things rolling for the Bulldogs. Next was Cooper McLean, who pushed the lead to 5-1 with a quick wrist shot from the left of Oakland goaltender Alex Moustakis.

Rose would finish off the scoring netting his 11th and 12th goals of the season in less than one minute to complete the hat trick and make the final score 7-1. Adrian Goaltender Michael Barrett stopped 19 Oakland shots while Moustakis repelled 33 Bulldog shots for Oakland. The Golden Grizzlies record drops to 15-6- 1 while Adrian is now 16-1-0 and a perfect 11-0 in the GLCHL. Rainer Glimple registered three assists for Adrian, while Jordan Oshowy and Costello each added two helpers to the Bulldog cause.

The two teams will complete their two-game series tomorrow night at Suburban Ice Arena in Macomb at 8:50 p.m. The game will mark the Bulldogs final game for 2017, as the Bulldogs will not return to the ice until January 13th when they host the Syracuse Orangemen in the first of a two-game series at Arrington Ice Arena.
