Bulldogs Split with UM-Dearborn
The ACHA Division 1 team played two very interesting games
against UM-Dearborn, losing the first game at Dearborn by one goal,
4-3, and defeating them at home 6-1 the following day.
Friday night, November 12, the Bulldogs traveled to UM-Dearborn and
lost to them at home by one goal with the final 4-3. The Wolves
scored a quick goal in the first period. However, there were no
more goals that period with the Bulldogs going to the locker room
down1-0 after the first.
The second period started exactly the same as the first one. The
Wolves scored a quick goal
again and change the score to 2-0. Adrian’s Tristan Musser
scored a power play goal, assisted by Blackwell and Semple, to put
them within one at 2-1. Unfortunately, less than a minute later,
Wolves answered again and got a two goal lead. It didn’t stop
the Bulldogs and a couple minutes later, Adrian’s Max Gavin
scored a short-handed goal to change the score to 3-2.
That was the last score of the second period. Halfway through
the third period, Adrian’s Logan Blackwell finally made it a
tie game, assisted by Jared Semple. Unfortunately, 30 seconds
after, the Wolves scored the final goal of the game, and the
Bulldogs took a tough loss with the final score of 4-3. In the net
was freshman Matt Anderson, who saved 31 shots out of 35, and ended
up with a 0.886 save percentage for the game.
Saturday, November 13, the Bulldogs returned home to face
UM-Dearborn once again at Arrington Ice Arena. This time the
Bulldogs knew what they were dealing with, and didn’t let the
Wolves to take a win again. Instead, the 'Dogs dominated the whole
game and took a big win with the final score of 6-1.
The first period went very well for the Bulldogs. They were
dominating the whole period
and lead 3-0. The goals were scored by Kevin Sunde (Power Play
Goal), assisted by Ciaverilla and Jordan; Spencer Bonomo
(unassisted); and Jared Semple (Power Play Goal), assisted by
Jordan and Goodell.
In the beginning of the second period, Adrian’s Tom Ciaverilla scored a power play goal, assisted by Goodell and increased the lead to 4-0. However, in the middle of the period the Wolves finally scored their first goal and changed the final score of the second period to 4-1.
Five minutes into the third period, Adrian’s Tristan
Musser scored another power play
goal for the Bulldogs, unassisted, and increased the lead to 5-1.
Then, close to the end
of the game, Adrian’s Max Gavin put the final score on the
board making it 6-1, assisted by
Mitchell. Freshman goalie Matt Anderson played the whole 60 minutes
that day,
and saved 15 shots out of 16.
The Bulldogs are now 15-3 overall and 9-2 in the conference
(GLCHL). They will go on the road this Friday, November 19, to face
the Grizzlies of Oakland University once again this season for an
8:00 PM faceoff.
