Bulldogs Battle MSU to 0-0 Deadlock

ADRIAN, Mich. - The Adrian Women's ACHA Hockey team hooked up with Michigan State University on Sunday for their regular season opener at Arrington Ice Arena, but neither team was able to dent the score board, as the Bulldogs and Spartans battled to a 0-0 tie for 65 minutes.

Neither team could score in regulation, while the Spartans had the biggest opportunity of overtime as the Bulldogs were able to hold off a late Michigan State power-play in the extra session to preserve the tie. Both teams went 0-for-4 on the power-play in regulation, as Adrian goaltender Emily Michelin (Highland, Mich.) and Michigan State's Julie King repeatedly kept their opponents off the scoreboard with big saves.

Michelin stopped 21 Spartan shots on the afternoon, while King turned back 37 Adrian attempts in the contest as they both earned shutouts. Adrian will see their next action next weekend on Saturday and Sunday, November 8 and 9, when they host of the Vulcans of the University of California (Pa.) at Arrington Ice Arena. Saturday night's game is slated to begin at 7 p.m., while Sunday's contest will be a 2 p.m. matinee.
