Zach Galia Named Inaugural Head Coach of ACHA Women's Hockey Program
Zach Galia will begin the season as the first head coach in
Women’s ACHA hockey history at Adrian College. As a recent
graduate and member of the first men’s NCAA hockey program in
Adrian College history, Zach is no stranger to starting a tradition
at Adrian College. The inaugural Men’s NCAA hockey program
broke numerous records, the fastest program to 100 wins (102-12-2),
most wins for a first year program (26), and four Midwest
Collegiate Hockey Association championships, on its way to a birth
in the 2011 NCAA National Championship. Zach brings this
championship experience and winning attitude to a bright new
program.
Before his four-year experience at Adrian College, Zach played
junior hockey in the Central Junior Hockey League for the Kanata
Stallions. As a steady defenseman, he was a solid blue line
performer throughout his years in junior hockey. Zach is a graduate
of St. Edward High School in Cleveland, Ohio and was the assistant
captain of a State Championship team for the Eagles. Zach also is
part of the elite staff of the Extreme Power Skating hockey camp
each summer that takes place in Tampa, Florida and Quebec City,
Quebec. The camp is run by NHL Linesman Jonny Murray, as well as
other professional and collegiate hockey players.
Zach majored in Communication and minored in Business at Adrian
College, and graduated magna cum laude in 2011.
